YCS (Young Christian Students)
YCS gives students the opportunity to recognise that they are being called by God to be active participants in life, to have ideas and opinions and to take actions that change their own lives and the lives of others. By following the example of Jesus Christ, students use the principle of ‘See, Judge and Act’ to identify compassionate ways in assisting those who are less fortunate than us.
Chess is a fun and interactive activity in which students can test their strategic and analytical skills. It is a game in which all ages can participate at both a social and competitive level. Each year, teams are entered into the NSW Junior Chess League for round robin competition against other colleges from junior to senior divisions. Training on learning how to play is provided to beginners as well as more advanced tactics for those at an intermediate level and above.
Assessment of Language Competence (ALC)
The ALC certificates are aimed at second language learners. Students studying French and Italian in Years 9 – 12 sit for Levels 2 and 3. Students in Year 8 may also sit for the ALC if they are working beyond the Stage 4 outcomes.
LINGUAFEST – Modern Language Teachers’ Association of NSW
This competition is open to students in Years 9 and 10. Students need to create and submit a short film using the target language following the format of the Tropfest Competition.
